Preparing Young Farmers, Ranchers for Future Challenges

FCSSW's Young Farmer/Rancher Institute Class of 2005: The class attended their first session April 29 through May 1, 2004 in San Diego, Calif. The second session is scheduled for April, 2005.

Fifty-one young farmers and ranchers from Arizona and California completed the first year of the Young Farmer/Rancher Executive Institute in early May at Paradise Point Resort and Spa in San Diego, Calif.

The institute, now in its ninth year, was cosponsored by Farm Credit Services Southwest and American Ag Credit of California. Participants included young adults who have launched careers in agriculture as farmers or ranchers.

FCSSW President and CEO Gary Dyer recently announced the second phase of the institute by inviting parents of current class members to attend the session scheduled for April 21-23, 2005. In his letter, Gary wrote, “Parents’ attendance sends a clear message regarding your support for the next generation.
