More Than 1,300 Attend 2018 State FFA Leadership Conference

 
 

 


TUCSON, AZ – This year, more than 1,300 FFA members, supporters and guests attended the 89thAnnual Arizona Association FFA State Leadership Conference, held June 7-9, 2018 at the University of Arizona.



Throughout the week, FFA members from across Arizona competed in events such as Parliamentary Procedure, Prepared Public Speaking, Extemporaneous Speaking, Agriculture Issues and other events. They also had the opportunity to attend leadership workshops and hear motivational speakers. Members were recognized during the week for their efforts through the Proficiency Award Program, Scholarships and other award programs.



Almost 200 students received their State FFA Degree which is the highest degree level the state can bestow upon an FFA member. Fourteen Chapters in Arizona were ranked in the top 3 receiving a bronze, silver or gold award for National Chapter and nine chapters were recognized as Superior Chapters.



The Arizona Agricultural Education/FFA Foundation held a Donor Reception for over 200 attendees prior to the third general session on Friday, June 8 at the Marriott Tucson University Park Hotel. FFA award and scholarship recipients were able to connect with their donor in person along with providing an opportunity to capture a photo for their keepsake during the reception.  During the evening session 24 scholarship recipients were recognized.



The Foundation was honored to have Farm Credit Services Southwest, a long-time supporter and scholarship donor provide two scholarships this year to Secorra Denny of the AAEC Paradise Valley FFA Chapter and Sydney Tyler Parsley of Buckeye FFA Chapter. On hand to present the scholarships was Mark Brawley, Farm Credit Services, Sr. Vice President and Arizona FFA Foundation Treasurer.
